A Payment Gateway is a service run by another company such as SagePay or Paypal to handle the financial transaction. The Payment Gateway will check the payment card details and available funds with the bank and provide feedback to the website in the form of a payment success or payment failure. An Internet Merchant Account acts as the second of two stages between a customer putting their payment details into your website and the funds arriving in your company bank account. Funds typically take a week to arrive in your bank account depending on your chosen provider. 3D Secure

3D Secure is a very effective PIN system used by Visa, Mastercard and JCB to help prevent fraud.

3D Secure is an optional service which you can bolt onto your payment gateway service to help prevent fraudulent orders. Although 3D Secure presents an extra layer for the customer we still recommend 3D Secure to prevent loss of earnings.
