Cosmetics retailer Lush, based in Poole, Dorset, has suspended online sales after being targeted by hackers.
The importance of regular security scanning and testing has been laid bare this week by the high profile case of Lush, the popular Poole-based cosmetics firm, whos website was hacked.
The affect of this hacking attempt has been to knock the website offline, drastically affecting Lush's sales during one of the most important periods for a business.
Lush has asked anyone who placed an online order between 4 October and 20 January to contact their bank in case their card details had been compromised, which shows the true size of the data compromised.
Security monitoring showed there was still "continuing attempts" to re-enter its website.
Their handling of the problem has however been excellent. Not only was the website immediately removed and replaced with a holding page, but the company showed their character with a tongue-in-cheek message to the hackers, the company complimented their "formidable" technical skills.
"We would like to offer you a job - were it not for the fact that your morals are clearly not compatible with ours or our customers," it added.
To limit your liability Evolve never store customers payment card details and we ensure your website is scanned using the industry leading security software Acunetix as part of our support service.
